Words Fail Me, 54.5 by 50 inches
machine pieced and handquilted
Since I am a journalist and a quiltmaker, it was fun to learn how to write with fabric. Each word in this maze (it starts from the middle from "Calm" and goes all the way around to "Enlighten)is a verb that can be placed in the middle of the three-word sentence. For example, "Words inspire me." And each word is made from word fabric (click for a close-up), symbolizing the layers of meaning in the words we choose.

Very creative! I saw the quilt on your blog before but didn't connect that all the verbs could fit the sentence.
I love this quilt and it's like a textbook of free-pieced lettering
WONDERFUL idea to have all those words fit the same sentence! I have seen Tonya's word quilts and have wanted to try it but have never done so yet.
And it's even better in person!
Wonderful! Wish I could see it in person too!
I love the thought that went into it - it is stunning!
beautiful and so original, congratulations
i really like the word concept. great quilt.
What a great idea of having the text of words be the main idea of the quilt. You did very well on this motif.
I like the idea of using word fabrics to create the words.
I really like that the words are all verbs that can be put into the 3-word sentence...that is very clever! Also very cool to use fabrics with words! I love it.
Vwery impressive, very nive:)
Oh, my I love this quilt. I love letters of fabric!!!
Wonderful quilt! I love words too and spell for a living (medical transcription). This is a terrific way to share meaningful words. I submitted SOAR to Tonya's quilt project as my first foray into word construction. It is more difficult than it looks! Thank you for sharing your quilt's story :)
this is wonderful. I think I'd like to make an alphabet wall hanging sometime... I love the letters and words you put in this quilt!
I love how much thought you put into this quilt. It is lovely, but also very thought provoking.
Wow...words also fail me. I REALLY love this. I love the idea of writing with fabric, and I think you captured many of your fellow quilters thoughts on fabric..."annoy" and "puzzle" indeed. Wonderful job, and very inspiring.
Love your words. It is clear that words haven't failed you at all. The word fabric is so much fun.
Wow what an amazing quilt! Absolutely fantastic! So glad you shared and I looked! ;o) ooxx`jodi
This is a really neat and clever idea. I never know any easy way to use words on quilts. This looks great.
this is so creative
This is amazing! I can't imagine how long this took you! What a creative idea.
Great expression of your idea.
I love your idea. It looks so good.
Congratulations! It is a great quilt.
I don't think words often fail you ;-)) but I'm really sure that your quilt is beautiful, wonderful, exquisite! Congratulations - and thanks for sharing it!
This a great quilt. I love all the different way you made your letters.
Beautiful!!!
I was inspired by your quilts to make a word quilt (actually a table runner). Thanks!
This reminds me of the words you can buy (some are fridge magnets) that challenges you to put poems, etc. together... and its WONDERFUL!
Love the word challenge...
I too love word play on quilts and this one is over the top. Thanks for sharing the tutorial.
If you scroll do 1 or 2 posts on my blogs you'll see my literal crazy quilt where I spelled out the words.

..I am off today so will hopefully get to some others on the quilt fest. I have some drawing orders to work on and then clean house... Now that our children are grown and my hubby and I are empty nesters, I can't be a "stay at home mom", but I would love to be a stay at home wife :o)
Blessings & Aloha!
