Friday finishes and technical difficulties

#mmminimini
Measures 6 inches square and quilted following the back pattern

I've been trying to post some Friday finishes for awhile,
but I've been plagued by technical difficulties.
I can't seem to get my photos off my iPhone 6 and onto my blog.
Yes, I've tried posting using the Blogger app,
and it takes forever (read never) to load.

Here are two minis I've posted on Instagram recently
@brendasuderman

Both measure 6 inches square or slightly less,

I made a liturgical stole recently for a friend who is a United Church of Canada minister.
I used a striped crossweave bit of yardage that I bought at a thrift shop.

I lined it with the same fabric
and inserted some lightweight wool batting between those stripes
to quilt in a cross set off by a background of pebbles.

The recipient likes it,
and was most impressed by the little unlined zipper bag I whipped up using the scraps.

Back to my technical problems.
I can't seem to get my phone pix onto my blog using the Blogger app.
I can't get the most recent ones through my laptop either,
even when I try the phone pix option on add photos.
I end up emailing them to myself,
but now Picasa won't let me edit them
and so they are untouched and not resized.

I need some techie help, and Google is failing me here.
Other suggestions?

Friday finish!

Here's a recent commission:
a liturgical stole for a United Church of Canada minister.
My guidelines were: green, lots of fabrics, and quilting

I also made a label for it,
but put it on the back of the bag instead of on the stole.
The words are quilted in with free motion quilting, not embroidered.

Here's the whole stole with the bag to keep it in.

I quilted in a vine with two shades of green Aurifil 28 wt. thread.

The reverse is a purple batik.

Small Friday finish

A few weeks ago I posted glimpses of
cathedral windows and sashiko stitching.

I made a liturgical stole as a gift for a Christian minister
using hand dyed purple fabric and solid black.

The cathedral windows decorate the bottoms
and the neck.

Strings and letters

What's a quilt without a good bag? This is the personalized bag I made for the liturgical stole below. The stole is made from my huge collection of reds -- I cut strips from every one and string-pieced onto a fabric foundation.
The back is two marbled fabrics, and I quilted from the front in the white stripe
as well as in the black cross. The new owner, a United Church of Canada minister, is thrilled because red is her favourite colour.

Lenten purple and Frank Lloyd Wright

This is a liturgical stole I made recently for a United Church of Canada minister for use during Lent and Advent. It's based on a picture of a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass window, or light screen. I've used hand-dyed fabrics, one commercial fabric, and a purple silk and velveteen to make the six stripes. Later, I saw the same design adapted to a wall hanging called Architect's Dream on Carol's Feb. 8 blog entry.
This is the back of it, using a wild batik I bought last summer on the Minnesota shop hop. I had some fun with it, putting in his titles: Reverend Doctor.

This is another purple liturgical stole, made with hand-dyed scraps from another project, which is why it is string-pieced extensively:
