Stars and lobsters

My papers are done, and I'm done with studying until September. So in celebration, I finished this wonky star quilt, which will end up comforting a sick baby in the local hospital. I bordered it with a blue that fades from dark to light and tied it to a blue fleece printed with stars and moons.
Here's the back, which once was one of those smallish fleece throws no one used at my house, repurposed to become a warm and cuddly backing for this quilt.

My friend Audrey gave me a set of potholders made from the pockets of jeans, old towels, and the last bits of that lobster fabric we've been having fun with in our guild. I made her a tea cosy in trade, so we're both happy. Her tea is hot and my hands aren't. Thanks!

I love the blanket. Thanks for the good idea about denim pot holders! I have a denim housecoat that has just fallen into rags--so I'm going to use part of it!

The quilt will cheer both the child and the family. The stars are lovely.
The potholder is a hoot! What a great idea for jean pockets!

Congrats on finishing your papers. Will you be out to the Barnswallows show? There will be a one day art show in Winkler at the skating rink on May 2. I'll probably be there most of the day. Hope you have time to drop by.

You must feel real relief. Quilting is a great way to celebrate and even better that some child will be the recipient. What a cute idea to use a jeans pocket for the potholder.

wonderful stars - that will make a child very happy. so sorry to hear the lobster fabric is at an end - it's been fun to see it popping up here and there.

Congratulations on finishing another year of school. What a better way to celebrate than to make a beautiful quilt! Congratulations, again!

Congratulations on getting your papers done! Whew!

Love the blue stars quilt - it's so cute, and that fleece on the back will make it even more cuddly.

I think those potholders are a great idea! I wonder if I have any old jeans around??

Brilliant idea for a pot holder. I have so many pockets from old jeans that I'm glad to have another thing to do with them!
