Fading away

Posted by Picasa
I shouldn't be sewing at all, and I've even removed my cutting mat from my table and spread out my books on it because I'm supposed to be writing term papers. A couple of years ago I picked up an MA where I had left off too long ago to mention, and this term I took two courses. It's crunch time, but I'd rather be sewing. So I snuck my little mat on one corner of the table and cut 1.5 inch strips off some of those pastel hand dyes. I had a different plan when I started, but I ended up with this little top (8.5 by 10.5) for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (see sidebar) which I'm calling Fading Away. These pastels aren't my favourite colours, but I like how this is turning out. It's going to be a little handquilting project for when I need breaks from my paper-writing.

Wow, I really like your little quilt Fading Away. It's good to have a handquilting project for taking a break!
I've been enjoying your blog.

This cracks me up. I was NEVER so productive with my housecleaning, errands, or other chores as when I was supposed to be writing my master's thesis. Fortunately, as an art therapist, most of my master's projects were art-based so I didn't have to sneak in too much creativity. Good luck with finishing your papers. You'll feel so much better (and creatively clear-headed!) when they're done!

That is such a good title for this quilt..... And I like the colours and how you put them together... NOW!! No more foolin' around!! You have a term paper to do then all your time is yours!!!! ;-)
(but I totally understand the need to just do something!! it helps relax me!! so good for you making stress relief time for yourself, but don't tell anyone I said that!!!)

I'm with Mal here--I was always most productive under the stress of studying for exams or writing papers!

I love the watercolour feel of this one, and the title is perfectly suited.

I love your little quilt made from the hand-dyes. And you have the perfect name for it. It's beautiful and soothing and will be good stress-relief! That was good stalling!

Good luck with the paper - it'll feel good to have that under your belt.

I love these colours and the name is ideal. It would like great on my newly painted white kitchen walls *vbg*.

That's a great name for a great little quilt, very soft and gentle. Reminds me of fog. Glad you can sneak a bit of quilting in between writing!

I think this is lovely and appropriately titled! I like the way the colors seem to just fade into one another and the lines just offset. It's great.

Good luck withe the paper!
