Scrappy stars

I had big plans for my summer:
a two-week road trip, lots of quilting, visiting with friends.
So far, that's not the way it's turning out.

My summer has taken a bit of a detour.

Instead of a road trip or working on quilts,
I've spent much of the last 10 days holding down the couch
due to an injury to my sacroiliac joint.

The SI joint is one of those parts of the body
that is affected by nearly every movement,
like bending and twisting and sitting and turning over in bed.

It's slowly improving, and yesterday I managed to sew a bit.
Lots of you were enthusiastic about the zig zag layout for my large scrappy HST.

I ventured into another direction
with these 24 inch stars
and calmed them down with neutral corners
instead of the HST corners as above.

Sometimes we just have to refocus, regroup, rethink
and take a road we hadn't planned on.

One silver lining?
Quilt camp is on tonight at my house!

I've committed to spending every Wednesday evening quilting
with my quilty friends.

That's a good antidote to an aching SI joint.

I'm linking up to The Needle and Thread Network.

I hope you see improvement soon. Love your new blocks.

I like the compromise, the star shape is clearer now, and you can group like colors together. Hope that joint heals.

Here's wishing you a full and speedy recovery. Your scrappy stars are looking really great in the final layout with the calmer centres :)

Oh ouch! I hope you feel better soon. That doesn't sound like any fun.

I think the stars look good! They show up well with the neutrals.

I still love the zigzag layout but with your changed stars I love them now too.

So sorry to read about your injury. Recover quickly! I hope you are not in pain. The quilt will be wonderful no matter the layout! Take care!
