I have a free day and I was planning to quilt for most of it.
But I've just had six thread breaks in a row
with two different colours of Aurifil 28 wt.
I had better success earlier today.
I've cleaned out lint
and changed the bobbin
and put in a new needle
and rethreaded.
Any other suggestions?

scotch
Ditto. Scotch is the only option.
have you tried sticking your tongue out to the right or left of your mouth?
I was wondering what size and type needle you are using? When I've worked with heavier threads, it's often been hit or miss as to what type will work without "shredding" thread as it goes along. I've had good success with Denims (16 or 18) but Metallics sometimes work good too.
Speed too has been a factor -- sometimes it helps to slow down the stitching and hand movements to avoid breakage. Hopefully you've already solved the problem and are on your way to a finish!!
I find that when my thread breaks it's often because I don't have the sewing machine foot postioned at the correct height. I have a Juki also and can adjust my foot either higher or lower to the quilt. Hope you have success in solving your problem.
