Let's celebrate

So I have two reasons to celebrate: a birthday this weekend, and I cleaned up my sewing room lately. If all of you lovely followers lived close by, I'd invite you over to pick out  some scrappy goodness, a bag full of strings, or even a UFO. Instead, I'll give a scrappy or selvage needlecase sort of like the ones above to a few lucky readers. (I have a few in progress, but they're not quite done yet.) Please comment and tell me how you use Flickr photo sharing and why. If you don't use Flickr, say hello anyway. I'm wondering if I should bump up my Flickr postings or not. I belong to many groups, but it seems my pix don't attract as many comments as my blog. Comment by midnight, Monday, May 31 for a chance to win.

Love the little needle cases. Cleaning you sewing room and birthday's are causes for celebration! I use flickr only for pictures and groups. Like Lee, I'm still learning.

Hi Brenda,
First, I love your blog which I receive by a feed each day.
I've never posted photos on flickr though I will if I join a group which uses flickr. But I love flickr as a place to browse through quilts. Sometimes a link or someone's post will lead me to a quilt photo in flickr, and then I'll "sit and stay awhile" to look at more photos.
Happy Birthday!
Kathleen
p.s. I've a liberated stitcher too, though not too experienced.

I don;t use flickr to post, but I do vosit flickr posts of lots of other bloggers and groups and I find that they are best when i can see chronologically how a quilter develops. I like groups because so many people are doing similar things and I can learn how color cam change a concept.

I don't use Flicker although I once posted pictures on it. It's all I can do to keep up with my blog and Facebook. I always like to add to the cute scrappy pieces you have already given me..

Happy Birthday Brenda! 8-)

I bet it feels good to have cleaned up your sewing room! Something I need to do some time soon.... Having trouble finding things!!!

I don't use Flickr at all, I closed out my Facebook page, and the blog is enough to take care of for me... 8-)

Happy stitchings!

Sorry I can't help you with the Flickr question....I'm not a big fan of Flickr. However, if you're still in the cleaning mood, you can come help me clean my sewing room which looks like the aftermath of a tornado....

I don't use Flickr, although I know there is at least one picture of me there somewhere. ;-) Your needlecases are lovely!

I have used Flickr to post a few photos but don't really use it. Love anything with selvages and don't have a selvage needlecase.

I just joined Flickr so I could post photos for last Fridays Friday Night Sew In. I can see a place for it in my life though. My e-mail account only allows small size e-mails, usually one photo. With Flickr I could share photos with my sister in Australia. But when I told her to go and sign up she said "don't hold your breath" Sigh.

I used to use Flickr a lot, but then Google's Picasa and Facebook came along and sadly I don't use it as much as I used to. However, the Quilts 4 Leukaemia quilts are on it and I still post photos to some of the quilting groups which we are probably both on too.

I much prefer Picasa to Flickr ... easier to see the posted photos (a bit faster loading, larger viewing area, and much easier uploading - at least for my brain cells). I use Flickr only for groups I participate in (i.e., Mountain Baby Blankets, Tonya's Amish Challenge).

Do what makes you happy with your posts -I haven't been able to ascertain any rhyme or reason to the number or frequency of postings - some things I anticipate more comments on yield only 1 or 2 while others get 12 or more. So much about how busy others are - and whether they are "reading" or just "surfing" ...

Best wishes on the cleaning out - I've been doing the same and my PIF pile is taller than ever ... all good.

Oops - make that

I haven't been able to ascertain any rhyme or reason to the number or frequency of COMMENTS (not postings as above) ...

Happy Birthday weekend!

I use flickr to search for ideas and inspiration and for networking. As a networking site you will get views and comments not only from the groups you join but from individual contacts. I noticed in your flickr profile you may not be using this feature to its full advantage. It's helpful to check out what your contacts are posting and comment (just like on blogs), and respond to those who comment on your photos. There's a helpful tab at the bottom of the flickr page where you click activity "around you" to see what's new (you can also receive email notifications of all activity). You can also post giveaways like this on flickr with a link to your blog.

Other features to take advantage of are the sets and galleries and favorites. When someone visits your page, they may only want to look at "word quilts" or "liberated houses" for example, and then they don't have to scroll through all your photos at once.

You don't need to enter me in the draw as I'm already lucky enough to have one of your needle cases.

I made and gave away a little sewing kit and still haven't gotten around to making another for myself ... so I'd be thrilled to win one of yours.

I use flickr to post my pictures of the jelly roll challenge I'm participating in. My daughter is always after me to post all my quilts out there because it is such a good way to share...maybe one of these days....

Happy sewing room cleaning!
I have only just started to upload pictures to Flickr and am not a member of any groups there. So far I'm using most of my web-time on my blog and reading other's blogs.

I only use flickr when I join a group. Other photos I have added are not usually viewed.

I think that scrap needlecases are a good idea. I made mine of felt and flannel. And I really use it all the time! I keep it in the living room with my little sewing basket. I love flickr, belong to several groups, and check it out daily
