Here's another vintage quilt that was passed along to me to enjoy. This baby blanket measures about 37 by 24, and is finished with a blanket edging in a sheer white fabric. The edging is frayed at places, and the blanket is soiled in spots, but otherwise it is in good shape. From the look of the stitching (the maker used various colours of embroidery floss or perle cotton), this is the front. It's hard to see, but the quilt has a basket motif filled with tulips and leaves in different colours. It might have been more visible if the maker had chosen a solid colour background.
Here's a close up of the tulips and leaves.
Here's the back, which features a print of tiny flowers and little blue bows. Possibly both the front and back fabrics were make from sheets. Perhaps this was mean for a boy. I don't know the story behind this, just that it was donated for a cause, but considered unsuitable because it wasn't in great condition, and then given to me. I'm going to give it a gentle wash and see how it turns out.
