Here are a few of the really big ones, with clothes for my kids inside. The green one below is made from a Christmas tea towel and I just put a casing on it and sewed down the sides, using the already finished edges.
These are medium sized ones at left with books inside, the wee one has peppernut cookies in it. Below are two that fit DVDs. Most of these are machine quilted on a twill cotton backing to give them some body, but none are lined. I used odd shoelaces and ribbons for the ties.
I suppose none of these really disguise the gifts that much, but they do use up fabrics and they're reusable from year to year. I think I've started another Christmas tradition for my sons -- you can keep the gift, but you'll have to give mom the bag back.

I was doing the same thing today. Little by little we're phasing out the paper wrap and using reusable bags. I've been shopping at thrift stores and buying cloth Christmas napkins, and even red satin pillowcases to remake into gift bags, and finding some unused gift bags too. I like your little DVD bags with the two ribbons.
This is such a great idea! I have a few that I have made, and meant to do more this year...but I haven't. Your bags are so cute!
cute bags! I love the fact that they are so green, plus the more they get used in a family, the more memories there are associated with them. I switched to the quilted bags so that it was harder to figure out what's inside.
love your bags, I made some last year and a few more this year as well- love the whole idea of using fabric up and having re-uable bags~!
Love the fabric gift bags. I'm going to do that next year. :)
Merry Christmas!
what a cute idea brenda...it's a little late for me, but maybe i could do this for hubby's present....really cute!
I made a bunch last year, too.. and this year when it was wrapping time, I was so happy! And they look cute under the tree. When Christmas is over, I plan to make more. (I love the idea of using the tea towel.)
Great gift bags! 8-)
