Giveaway day!

I'm joining in with the Sew Mama Sew  giveaway day 
with a thread, needles (sort of) and fabric package
I'm offering up a handmade needle book with wool pages inside,
six hand-dyed charms,
and a spool of red (2250) 50 weight Aurifil thread.

International entries welcome.

Your fabric is so gorgeous! I have dyed yarn recently and I remember to have dyed fabric when I was little and in a summer camp :) It was great fun - both, when I was little as well as my recent yarn dyeing :)

Two years ago, I worked with my grandkids and my sisters' grands and we did tie dye t-shirts. So no dying of fabric to sew.

At secondary school in the 60's our art teacher taught us how to dye burlap using vegetables - I recall onion skins used to make a beautiful yellow.

No, but, I've wanted to try the method using shaving cream. I use hand dyed fabric in just about every quilt I make.

I dyed a beige sheet to make a vampire cape for my son, unfortunately it came out grey so I now have material for a skirt for me and a romper for my daughter!

I have dyed fabric with commercial dyes. I tried recently using onion skins, but the outcome wasn't as dark as I would have liked.

I've dyed premade garments and accidentally stained lots, but nothing that has ever looked as pretty as yours have turned out!!

Does tie dying T-shirts count? Otherwise no, I've never dyed fabric. I am working on a quilt kit of beautiful hand dyed rainbow colors and am in need of red thread for the quilting. Wink, wink.

Hi I have not dyed fabric but I have painted on it and inadvertantly shibori stuff with bleach in the washer LOL :) does dying your husband's underwear pink with a red t-shirt in the wash count??? :)

I have never tried fabric dying, I make a big enough mess trying to pour milk, I am such a clutz at times, I wouldn't even attempt to use something that wouldn't come out i.e. dye. I sure am glad others do it though because it makes beautiful fabric colors.

No, I can't say that I have. Tea dye once; beets once. Not really successful as the colors washed out. I had a real mess.

I've tried dyeing with the kids - we used blackberries. I tried all the tricks I found online to set the colour - It was a beautiful magenta at first, but it faded to a barely-there-beige. It was so dissapointing that we kind of gave up. :\

I bought some fabric-dye-powder a bucket and white fabric, but haven't got to dyeing it yet. It somehow scares me... Already thought of getting a lighter color dye (maybe ochre) so I can try again if I won't succeed...

I've dyed lots of fabric -- cotton, silk, wool, yarns, and unwoven fibers, basket reed, some custom dyeing for a couple of people, and a lot of just dabbling around with dyes and paints. It's been awhile, but I'm getting hungry to get back to it.
