Last winter I made a pair of chicken and egg quilts, using this Kaufman Mona Luna print
It's a simple design showcasing the fabric with a white panel
appliqued with two chickens,
but it's attracted a lot of attention from my lovely blog readers
and people who see it in person.
One of these quilts lives up the street with a new little neighbour
and the other is going to live with a friend's new grandson.
Last month I entered this one in a local show,
and today I got word that I won the people's choice award in the baby quilt category.
Thanks to all the folks who voted for me!
And a special thanks to my quilty friend V. who provided the brown stripe and binding fabric
and cut off a chunk of her piece of Mona Luna to share with me.

Congratulations. People's choice awards are the best!
Congrats Brenda, happy to participate in the ongoing discussion of chicken and egg... I too was happy to receive my envelope announcing that my "Black and Whites Gathered from all over" was the People's choice in the large quilt category. Got the label, sewed it on...
