I've been playing with scraps, just using values to create this two-rail fence. I made large 16-square block in different colour ways as a leader-ender project, and now I decided it was time to get them together. Now it will measure 48 inches by 64, which isn't quite wide enough for an adult-sized throw. Or maybe this would be better with a fleece backing and donated to the children's hospital? Does it need borders? Is there too much red in the middle? (not that I'm going to take it apart.) I'm not inclined to make more blocks, but since these are old fabrics from my mom, I don't have piles of options for sashing if I want to get it wider.

The fleece backing idea is what I vote for. No border needed. Great way to get a quilt made, the user-ender method.
What a cool leader-ender quilt. Absolutely love the ric rac effect of the blocks!!!!! This will be my next leader ender project, beginning this weekend. I have to throw a quilt together this weekend!!!! As far as border, i vote binding only! and far as backing? what ever you have to use. Some little kid will LOVE that no matter what is on the back!
No border and any kind of backing would be great. This quilt is very nice. I like that cute bag you made, too.
What a cute bag. The zigzag quilt is quite striking.
great zig zags! it's growing so nicely!
(gotta love the 15 minutes bag!)
your zig zag is awesome~
I'd finish it as is (fleece or sandwiched) -- it has a lot of movement and borders might stop that..
I am usually a border person but in this case I like it the way it is.
Having met your sons, that bag fabric must have been in the stash for awhile! Lol. Cute bag.
I really like the zig zag rail as it is. Unless you want to add a border of words :)
I'm a little behind on blogs, so this comment might be too late but .... I really like the zig-zags as they are, no border necessary :)
