Gifts and giveaway

Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes. I celebrated by purchasing this tied quilt at the MCC quilt show for my son. I realized we have many double quilts, but no singles for his bed. This beauty with a mixture of solids, prints and batiks was $65. It was called a crazy quilt, but it is totally symetrical and is pieced with accuracy by someone more skilled than me. Here's another look:

I'm considering quilting in the ditch around the borders to give it a bit more stability, since it has a high loft batt that I'm afraid will migrate. This will get washed a lot, so I want it to wear well.

I got some quilty gifts for my birthday last weekend, including some fun orange, purple and pink scraps and assorted notions from one quilting friend, the magazine of antique quilts from a non-quilty friend, and the tape and nail file from my family.

Now for the giveaway winner. The random number generator chose Quilt Diva Julie to win a selvage needlecase.

The quilt is crazy in its own right even though symmetrical! I bet you son will love it! 8-)
