A real fruit basket

Click to see the great details.
Laura at Prairie Peasant sent me this photo of our guild challenge since I forgot my camera. Heather challenged us with the word "pear" and we rose to it with a variety of appliqued, pieced and embroidered pears, as well as one pear lady (far right of middle row.) Some of us made 12 inch blocks, others six, and at least two of us made letters. I made four blocks --those pink and blue ones, which I knew wouldn't play well with the other ones, and the brown word ones right below. Click to enlarge and see that great pear with a bite out of it in the top row, and the embroidered pears beside.

Hmm I'm quite intrigued about this quilt, I'm taking another fabric painting class May 29 and then I will have two pieces of fruit completed that will be both hand painted including the background fabrics, I needed some inspiration on what do do around these blocks...thanks so much for this!
