I use heat on my neck or back nearly every day as I recover from whiplash (from an accident last year) and recently I got a new gel pack that I heat in the microwave. I needed a cover for it, so I found half a towel from another project (a baby bath towel) and a selvage strip from a Kaffe Fasset print (thanks again, Bumble Beans!) and I made myself a pretty cover for my neck pack. Meanwhile, I got inspired by the pattern in the Roman Glass print and I took it all one step further .......
Inspired by the layers of free-form ovals, I cut a few of my own from hand dyed fabric and hand appliqued the layers to each other for another flower in my minimalist applique quilt. At left is the front, not appliqued to the backing yet, and at right is the back, where I've cut the layers away one by one. I won't be cutting away the black though. Isn't it fun how one thing leads to another?
Can anyone help me with the name or designer orline of this fabric? I just have a sample size, and I'd like a little more of this because of the VW bus on it. I own a VW van, but not quite as cool as this one.

Oh Brenda, that is so weird! I have just had syrgery on my shoulder today and will be using a cold pack. Like the heat pack, you are not supposed to put it straight on your skin, so I was plannin gon making a little sleave for it, what a co-incidence!! Love Kath In England
The fabric is Printex Pat. # 80094 It is probably 5 or 6 years old at least. I have a couple yards that I bought from: http://www.hawaiianfabric.com/
I was going to make a Hawaiian shirt for my husband because we have a VW camper too. Now that you reminded me and I dug out the fabric, I guess I should make that shirt, huh?

The flowers are getting better and better. The fabric is very neat. We used to have a VW bus too.
Will I be seeing you this weekend?
great vw fabric!!!!
very cute and useful gel pack cover!
Hey! I just pulled out the scrap I got when you got yours... mine has the bus, the motorcycle and a surfer. Wonder if they're the same line. I'm still not sure I'm ready to cut it, but need a cover to make books with Prairie Peasant tomorrow. It would make a good one...
