Hand dyed and gone to heaven

I've caught the applique bug and I've made three more of these minimalist flowers, in various shades of my hand dyed fabric, both in the blooms and the leaves. I'm experimenting with different black backgrounds (solids and black prints) and appliquing a more traditional way. Instead of marking each block according to a pattern, I'm eye-balling the placement, tilting the flowers slightly differently and putting the leaves in different spots and curving the bias stem in various ways, sort of like Gwen Marston suggests in her Classic Four-Block Applique Quilts book. So this is one possible layout of a potential quilt, or this:

Meanwhile, with the patient help of Mr. Scraps,  I've hung my series of circle applique minis in the front hall, between the doorway to the LR (at right) and the kitchen. It's hard to get far away for a good shot, so I took a wide angle shot from up the stairs. I thought the yellow-gold walls would look good with the mostly warm colours in the quilts.

Your flower appliques are absolutely scrumptious! I love that flower design to start with, but the hand-dyes just put it over the top. WOW.

Your circle art quilts look so good on your wall...what a wonderful display.

I really like the wavy stems on the flowers....adds alot of energy to the quilt. Looking forward to seeing more flowers.

I love the simplicity of the flowers and the subtle shading of the hand dyes really adds an extra dimension to them. I prefer the horizontal layout where the stems don't all meet in the middle.

I like the first layout of those GORGEOUS flowers (with the stems meeting at the centers of the four blocks).

LOVE THEM!
