Unintended funglies

Over the weekend, I sewd together the fungly quilt of juvenile prints. it's about 45 by 63, and I'll back it with fleece, tie it, and donate it to the children's hospital.

This crumb quilt wasn't supposed to be a fungly, but a bit of power sewing and a mix-up in border measurements turned it into one. I had lots of the pumpkin fabric for sashing and border and my intention was to make a 60 by 80 donation quilt, but somehow I put the top borders on the side, and now its almost square -- too wide and too short. Sigh. I'm not unpicking those long seams, so I'm going to sew wide navy borders top and bottom to get it to 80 inches.
I had a fun visit with Joyce last week -- really it is so much better to see quilts for real and meet their makers. She's got some great free pieced stuff, as well as lots of crumb and scrappy quilts, and there's that fabulous star/nine-patch she's working on now, which is really great in person.

fun bright happy kid's quilt and I like the borders of pumpkin on the string quilt.

I love the colors. Think of the bordering as an intentional mistake. Makes the quilt top that much more special. I like to use fleece as a backing and tie quilts myself. Functional and simple.

They're both great and I love that pumpkin fabric.

Your fungly quilt is quite cute! I like the mix of blocks as well as the mix of fabrics. By the way, most of them just look cute, not at all fungly!
Your crumb quilt is wonderful. What a great choice of color for the border - that cheddar fabric just pops against all the blues! And, that wasn't an error, just another design opportunity!

I like all the quilts, fungly or not. And I want to make the purple and green quilt on the cover of the book Through the Garden Gate. I really like that quilt.
