Crumb-y Day

Like Carol over at Giraffe Dreams and Donna at Quilt Pixie I've had fun today making crumb blocks. These blocks are made mostly from leftover strips and bits from the River quilt I made with my son's grade 4, 5 , and 6 class at school last winter. I kept all the bits and strips in a bag, and now I have 25 blocks finishing at 6 inches. I'm deciding whether to make a 60 by 80 donation quilt using alternating crumbs/solids, or sewing these together and putting on several borders for a 42 inch square baby donation quilt.

very fun. I love the little hints of bright orange.

Some crumby days are better than others. Looks like this was a good one.

what about sewing the crumbs into a long strip and cutting them for borders around a centre? I've found it a great way to use crumbs cause you can just cut the strip whatever length you need, no need to worry about it being a full block length...
