I had a hankering to make some spiderwebs,
without the fuss of making squares and kites and the whole mess.
So I cut four two-inch strips of Kaffe fabrics
and cut them into 45 degree triangles.
I like how these two look entirely different
just with the fabrics in a different order.
Not sure where these are going yet,
but it was worth a few strips of fabric to figure it out.
Here's a set of five 8.5 inch blocks
destined to become placemats or a table runner
or maybe a baby quilt.
Yesterday I was asked to provide a quilt or blanket
for a stillborn baby.
The family is experiencing the textbook example
of a "mixed blessing."
One baby died in utero
and the other twin survived.
I didn't have any unclaimed baby quilts or blankets on hand,
but I did have some yardage of printed flannel
and some pre-cut squares.
I used that self-mitreing method for this.
I know the pictures make the quilt seem a bit garish
but in person it is quite nice.
I purposely put the peace/love block in the middle
and I free motioned the baby's name on the bottom
