I didn't make this quilt, but I wish I had.
I love the repetition of triangles, the use of colours,
especially the variations in the light triangles
and the freedom of piecing.
Here's a bigger shot -- some of the triangles are different sizes, some have their points cut off,
but that's what I love about it.
The general shape repeats, but there's little surprises here and there.
Someone unknown (shall we call her Triangle Lady?)
donated this top to a local aid organization, and it was quilted by
Bonnie, a member of my guild.
I think it measures about 60 by 80, and it was up for sale
for $350 last weekend.
I'm not sure if anyone bought it,
but I'm "borrowing" the design
as in inspiration.
I'm also contemplating how Triangle Lady cut all those triangles.
They're not 60 degree triangles. Did she use a ruler? or freehand it?
What do you think?
I'm linking up with Judy's Design Wall Mondays.

Maybe she paper-pieced them? Great design idea. Just a bit of irregularity keeps things interesting.
I don't know, but i do love it!
This quilt is wonderful! I recently improve pieced some triangles. I only used two colors - they are now on the border of the Halloween quilt I am making for my brother. They are funky with the points cut off, but I love all the different colors in this piece.
Wonderful quilt! I think she used Gwen Marston's Liberated technique.
Scrappy is always good!!
I may have to borrow this idea, too ... have a stack of paired triangles begging to become something.
This is so eye catching! I've pinned it for inspiration - thanks for sharing and I agree that the little surprises make the quilt.
I'm thinking they're paper pieced in strips. It is great, and very inspirational.
Scrappy,happy!!Ilove it/Hugs Bambi
It would certainly work paper pieced. Awesome colours! I wonder if triangle lady got rid of it because of its imperfections.
I agree with Nifty. It looks like it could have been done free-pieced a la Gwen Marsten. I've done that method and it comes out just like this.
What a super quilt! I love it too. Thanks for sharing it!
I do patchwork in the liberated style, though my quilts are not like so many wonderful ones I see. But I think the Triangle Lady did liberated triangles-It's not difficult and is fun. I'd like to borrow the setting of this quilt, too. She's talented and knows how to use color.
I love your blog! I follow in "Old Reader".
