I have some hand dyed finishes to celebrate this weekend.
First up: a pair of zippy bags
featuring some hand dyes.
the other side.
Then a trio of candlemats from hand dyed leftovers
from my friend Cheryl
Here's a close up.
It measures about 12 inches across.
More hand dyes on the back: overdyed white on white on the left,
and an overdyed linen dresser scarf on the other two.
And then there's this: I dyed this yesterday
after cleaning out a bathroom drawer and
finding a motherlode of those little containers of
purple revealing liquid for brushing your teeth.
The orthodontist was very generous with those during our seven years of visits
and since they contain a warning that they may stain fabric,
I decided to give it a try.
Here the little packages are draining into a bin ful of snow.
I've cut a small piece for one of you.
and I'll pick a winner on Monday.
I'm off to a quilt retreat with a small group of quilty friends
Happy International Woman's Day indeed!
We'll be celebrating tonight with
a chocolate cheesecake
made by Mr. Scraps.
Yum!

I don't dye fabric (or anything else) but I love color. I like the looks of the fabric you dyed very much.
What beautiful fabric! I love your FMQ flower in the center of the rainbow block. So pretty!

What a fantastic idea to use up something that would otherwise be thrown away. Women are so smart :) Happy International Women's Day.
You are brilliant!!! I would never have thought of the dental things........I wonder how many more things will "horribly stain" my fabrics???

I never thought of using that! Great idea. I'm going to Belize in the fall and want to teach the women how to dye cloth with natural items that can be found there. Any ideas? Thanks for the give away!!!
I remember the pink tablets we had to chew when I was in grade school....
Great idea to use it up.

I have snow dyed fabric...but with Rit Dye. Would never have thought of the dental dye that checks for plaque! i wonder what else could be used that would stain fabric this nicely.
Oh, THAT is SO cool! I showed my girls and they want to win SO bad. Our dentist's stuff is red and they only have us one big bottle, but we want to try this now! LOL!
